About Me

Hello, I’m Lauren. Welcome to Lauren Newson Tutoring!

I graduated from the University of Winchester with a Bachelor of Honours degree in Primary Teaching in 2012, after which I moved back to the island to begin my teaching career. Having worked most of my career in KS2 specialising in transition to secondary school, I have spent the last 6 years as a private tutor teaching Maths to children from KS1-KS4. I have taught children with a wide range of abilities and special educational needs and can adapt my methods to suit your way of working. It's all about making it accessible for you.

I look forward to welcoming students old and new into my purpose-built learning space!

What I offer

Private Tutoring focuses on creating a strong foundation on which to reach your desired goals; whether that be filling gaps, growing your confidence, moving up a set in school or stretching your abilities. I therefore offer the following options in Maths from Y3-Y11:

Individual sessions are best for those who require one-to-one support and encouragement or those who are severely lacking in confidence.
Children will benefit from my undivided attention, allowing us to spot misconceptions early and make progress quickly.
I have limited individual slots so waiting times for these may be longer than 1:2

£32/45mins Year 10 - Year 11

Perfect for siblings, friends or those who prefer a more social environment to learn in.
You can approach me with a group already in mind, or I can match you to a suitable partner.
Children can be different ages and abilities.
Both children will have individual lesson plans and my time is shared between the children equally.
